The projects described here all originated from my desire to automate and digitize the world on my digital H0 scale train layout.
Most of the projects can be controlled either manually (hardware interface), via serial or USB communication to a PC, or using a DCC compatible central controller. (like Märklin Central Station, Uhlenbrock, ESU Ecos, Intellibox, Roco Multimaus, etc....)
The interface between the train layout and the actual modules uses a specific optocoupler chip, the 6N137. It is n ot easy to find, but you can definitely source it cheaply through eBay. The goal is to use simple, cheap and widely available components to keep if afforable. I'll do my best to provide electronic schematics, Arduino source code and picture / movies where possible.
